Fall and winter makeup is different, to a point. The summer sun is fading and the cold days of winter are quickly approaching. Your makeup should be changing with the seasons so you are always looking your best no matter what the time of year it is. There are subtle differences from fall to winter, though. You do want to move into the winter colors and styles slowly so that you do not have a stark difference one day to the next.
What Makes Them Different?
Several things make fall makeup different from winter. Check them out:
1. Move to more tinting in foundations. The biggest change from the winter months is the foundation. You will want to use a more oil-based product to ensure your skin does not dry out during the cold winter. In addition, you can add tint to the skin if you are hoping to carry your fall color through winter. It is more natural, though, to switch to a foundation that is more similar to your skin's natural color.
2. Fall colors are traditionally more natural and earth colored than they are in the winter months. You can use colors that are more dramatic during the winter months and get away with it easily. Switch to more winter like colors like grays, blacks and browns. The color may be more pronounced during the winter months, too.
3. Let your lips stand out. Use colors that are more vibrant during the winter to make a statement with your colors. Your lips are the ideal place to focus. Go with colors that are more striking than those that just blend in.
In the winter months, you have more range of choice in colors. The color can be more pronounced and still be very beautiful. Choose colors wisely and be sure to transition slowly so that your look is naturally changing like the seasons.

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff
Our Dad always told us not to sweat the small stuff but only now have I begun to take this to heart. The fact is that life is much simpler when you work on freeing your mind and I have compiled some easy and practical steps you can take now to do just that…
Start by shutting off and giving yourself some “no phone” time. The telephone is one of the most regularly stressful distractions of life. Set aside a certain time of the day when you put your cell phone on silent or don’t answer at all except in the case of real emergencies.
Try to say no without guilt. Always saying yes makes you feel overwhelmed, stressed and tired and you end up doing things you don’t want to or shouldn’t be doing all the while acting, on the surface, as if everything is just fine.
Give yourself an extra 10 minutes before you go. Instead of always rushing, start out 10 minutes early instead of waiting until the last possible moment and you will find yourself with plenty of time to spare and less stressed in the process.
Create a “me” ritual. When you have what you need in an emotional sense, you have plenty left over for others. Rituals can be as simple as squeezing exercise into your daily routine, browsing bookstores or having a quiet cup of tea before work. This is your time a special part of the day reserved just for you. You’ll be amazed at the great feeling of being pampered that you can give yourself.
Lower your voice and speak softly. When you speak too quickly and with a loud voice, the energy you send out into the world is frantic and nervous. People around you will feel pressured and slightly agitated. Speak softly and you may discover that you begin to feel calmer and less stressed. Better yet-you’ll quickly discover that everyone around you will quickly start to quiet down, too, which will make you a happier you.
Remember to take breaks. This is a mini-recharge of sorts. Not taking breaks not only wears you down, but also makes you less productive. While you may not feel it at the time, frustration will sneak up on you in the end and you’ll end up with less patience and less attentive.

How to Make Eye Whites Whiter
When people talk about a person with amazing eyes, they are most often referring to their irises being deep blue, dark brown or stunning green; they are not generally talking about the whites around the eyes which serve as the backdrop.
However this is in fact an oversight, as actually having very white eyes is a good way to make your yes more noticeable and attractive and to make them look bigger too. This is also a look that will make you appear 'wide eyed' and healthier and more awake. Here we will look at how to achieve white looking eyes through various methods.
Using Makeup
If you're a girl then a great way to make your eyes look whiter and create more of an impact is to create a darker outline/eyelid. This works in just the same way as you can make your teeth look whiter with a dark lipstick as it enhances the contrast. To make your eyes look larger though, and to draw more attention to them, you may alternatively wish to use a white eyeliner. Another strategy that can work wonders is to slightly tan your skin using a self tanning moisturizer or a foundation that is a shade darker than your usual skin tone.
Using Contacts
Contacts can also artificially make your eyes look whiter – and say you use a colored contact to make your pupils look darker brown – this will again increase the contrast and make the surrounds appear whiter.
Through Diet
There's a reason that white eyes make you look lively and healthy – and that's simply because often they do reflect good health and nutrition. If you aren't eating enough of the right things then that will in turn be reflected in your eyes. So avoid any toxins that are bad for you such as alcohol or nicotine, and make sure you get lots of calcium and vitamin C in particular.
Eye Drops
There are many eye drops designed specifically to increase the whiteness of eyes and many of these can work well. Otherwise just using standard eye drops can help to prevent dry eye which can make your eyes look red otherwise.
Drinking Lots of Water
Drinking lots of water can help to clear your body of toxins as well as to help you to produce tears that will prevent dry eye and redness.
Sleep
Sleeping is one of the most important ways to make sure your eyes look white and healthy and a lack of sleep is one of the quickest ways to make them look duller or blood-shot. If you're over-tired or over-worked, then relaxing and having a long sleep is one of the easiest ways to restore them to their full vibrancy.

How to Look Beautiful at School
School is a place where people are more judgemental than anywhere else. When we go to school our social standing is very important – we're trying to impress the boys, remain 'cool' and generally turn heads in the right direction.
No one wants to be sporting the nerdy look, or look like they're wearing unwashed hand-me-downs, or your school-life can become a living nightmare. So yes, looking good is more important at school than ever, but unfortunately it's made somewhat difficult by its very nature – you see schools are not technically beauty pageants and the teachers involved often don't feel comfortable when their clientèle look too hot as it seems somewhat inappropriate. Meanwhile they are trying to instil a sense of discipline and order and one of the ways they can achieve this is by getting everyone to dress in a uniform. It makes the children easy to spot out of a lineup, it makes them remember that they are a part of your school, and it ensures that no one is superior to anyone else. It's kind of like communism...
So this all makes it very hard to look your best at school and if you're a girl trying to get the attention of a boy then you're going to have a bit of a tricky time making yourself look your best when you have to wear a baggy grey jumper and tie and aren't allowed makeup. Fortunately there are still some ways you can make yourself look beautiful – even in a school uniform – it's not for no reason that a school uniform is one of guys' favourite fetishes when they get older. Here we'll look at some tips on how to look beautiful at school and to get around the problems inherent in doing so while sticking to the rules.
Learn the Rules
First of all make sure you know what the rules are. Are you allowed heals? Are you allowed to wear makeup? If so what makeup? Do you have to wear a tie? Are you allowed a skirt? All these things will have a big impact on how you look and you might be surprised about what you can get away with. It may well be that while your school is like some kind of throwback to the dark ages in some respects, they actually surprise you in others. Then you will be able to push the envelope as far as possible without getting kicked out.
Work It
Now you know what you can wear, it's all about how you wear it. For instance just because you have to wear the jumper doesn't mean you need to keep it on. And just because you have to wear a white shirt doesn't mean you can't make it fit better. Make sure that if you're allowed them that you wear fitted shirts, and make sure that you are a good fit in them. If you do have to wear hand-me-downs then get them taken in if necessary. At the same time there's no reason you can't wear some 'magic' underwear to keep your stomach flat or to improve your physique in other ways if you think it could help. Heels if you're allowed them will make your legs look much longer, but they'll also affect your posture and make you walk in a more mature and alluring way which is sure to help you catch the attention of a guy.
Choose Makeup Wisely
Now makeup is likely to be reigned in by your school's rules but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The title of this article is how to look 'beautiful' at school, not 'how to look frankly inappropriate'. And genuinely guys to sometimes prefer the natural look as it tends to suggest the right kind of character. That doesn't mean you can't cheat a little though and if you want to look beautiful then it's all about making your natural features stand out more – in such a way that the teachers can't call foul play. For instance if you haven't got the best skin in the world (an unfortunate reality of our school years often) then you can improve this by getting to work with some foundation and concealer. The brilliant thing about this strategy is that it's designed to be matched to your skin, so no teacher can accuse you of wearing it unless they know and you won't get into trouble. Likewise using the right mascara can really widen and darken your eyes and draw a lot more attention to them and this will change the way your whole face is perceived – again without being too obviously fake. You can use blusher to bring out your cheekbones, you can use a light lip gloss or a nude lipstick to make your lips more shiny and full looking. All of this is subtle and more the 'maybe she's born with it' look rather than the 'she comes from a broken home' look.
Choose Your Hair
One thing that you will have pretty much free reign on is your hairstyle and this is a great asset that you can work. Make sure that you find out what haircut it is that suits you best and try a few. Changing your hair around will mean that you often get attention for new looks, and at the same time it will mean that you are more likely to find that perfect do. There's a hairstyle out there for everyone and if you find the right one for you then it can truly transform your face – framing it just right or emphasising your best features.
Look After Yourself
Finally the real key to looking beautiful is to look healthy. If you have a radiant glow then this comes from your looking after your health and this is a great way to ensure you stay looking your best without upsetting any rules. In fact your school would encourage you to remain healthy.
This then means for instance looking after your skin and while acne can unfortunately be a fact of life if your skin produces too much oil and sebum, but that doesn't mean you can't also improve your skin by exfoliating and moisturising etc. Likewise if you use the right shampoo and conditioner it's possible to make your hair silkier and smoother and a nice set of luscious locks will be enough to make most people think about running their fingers through it. You can also of course improve your physique with exercise and by watching what you eat, and you can make sure your hands look good by taking care of your nails (try applying a clear varnish to make them shine in a way that doesn't look unnatural).

Great Hair on a Budget
Trying to save some cash? Penny-pinching needn't cramp your style. Here are the top ways you can save on your hair, and still look good.
1. T-section it
Next time you head to get your roots touched up, consider having just your T-section (across the forehead and along your part) done. Sure, you'll need to get the rest fixed up at some point, but this will be enough to cover the most noticeable areas until you can afford the rest. It's also a good tip for when you don't have much time to spare at the salon, but can't walk around with roots any longer!
2. Skip the treatment
Ever heard these words muttered by your hairdresser? "Honey, your hair needs a treatment. Let's pop over to the basin and it'll only take 10 minutes." Yep, you think your hairdresser's got your locks in her best interest (which she may have), but what she's forgotten to add to that sentence is, "And that'll be an extra $30." Don't wait until you're at the register to find this out. Speak up, and if they're charging for it, consider if you can DIY at home for less.
4. Skip the blow-dry
Just like skipping the in-salon treatment can save you cash, so too can the blow-dry. Granted, leaving the salon looking like a drowned rat isn't tres sexy, but if you don't have to go anywhere straight after your cut or colour appointment, why not head home and dry it for free?
5. Go junior
Did you know that salons charge less if apprentices cut or colour your hair? Yes, having a less-experienced cutter can be a little nerve-racking, but if you're having a single, block, all-over colour, or some simple foils it's pretty hard for them to stuff up (and they're usually fully supervised, anyway). It's an easy way to save moolah.
6. Just say no
Don't feel you have to buy the care and styling products your hairdresser recommends. They are not going to be offended if you say no, and you may be able to buy a supermarket brand for less. A hairdressing insider (who doesn't want to be named) tells us this bit of juicy info: "Some hairdressers receive commission, bonuses or incentives to sell these products to their clients. Just like they want you to re-book in six weeks' time to ensure you come back, it's a great way for them to make extra money."

How to get the perfect eyebrow shape
Eyebrows are one of our best beauty assets so it's not worth taking any chances with an at-home job.
Professional results speak for themselves. Ladies, it’s time to farewell uneven brows and say hello to naturally shaped and perfectly groomed works of art they’re the ultimate face shapers.
In the quest for perfect brows, Your Beauty Spot headed straight to Benefit's Brow Bar in Myer, Sydney City, to get shaped. They caught up with Hannah Terrett, Benefit's leading brow expert to help put all your burning brow dilemmas to rest and learnt how to achieve the latest brow shape.
What is the eyebrow shape we should all be aiming for at the moment?
Brow shapes change, just like fashion. This season thick and natural is in. The best style is a natural line with enough definition to frame the face giving an instant eye lift.
How do we achieve this look?
Start by throwing away those tweezers. Have your brows done professionally with a brow specialist. A professional masters the art of brows so the shape and thickness will be perfect. Try a brow tint to enhance thickness and have them trimmed just a little to define the finished result.
Do you prefer hot wax or strip wax?
At Benefit's Brow Bars we use a mixture of the two; it is a chewy consistency wax which is removed using a calico strip. This wax gives a clean finish with no residue and minimal redness.
Should people at home tweeze in-between visits?
Definitely not! Tweezing in between visits staggers the growth cycle of the hair making the hairs grow through at different times of the month, which will result in an unclean wax at your next brow shape.
How do you achieve the perfect shape?
Everyone's shape is different and is determined mostly by facial features. If a client has larger facial features — eg, eyes and nose — a thicker brow will balance the face as opposed to a thinner, shorter brow working well for those with smaller features.
What do you recommend to fill in the gaps?
A brow tint works wonders for those light, sparse, uneven brows. Lasting two to three weeks, a brow tint colours the hair filling in sparse sections and leaves the brows looking fuller. And brows wouldn't be complete without a touch of Benefit's Brow Zings. It sets the brows in shape using a combination of wax and powder. It also fills in any sparse sections between the brows where the skin is visible, giving instant shape and definition taking your brows from now to wow.
Which celebrity would you say has the most coveted eyebrows?
Delta Goodrem, Miranda Kerr and Jennifer Hawkins are all gorgeous Aussie beauties. The three of them have very different faces and shapes with the most effortless, defined and flattering brows.
And finally, tell us a little bit about you.
Having worked within the beauty industry for what seems like an eternity, brows have always been my passion. Having [developed] a loyal following over the years, my reward is the satisfaction of the customer. From management to training, I am constantly growing and excelling my love of the field. Becoming a brow trainer for Benefit Cosmetics has been the icing on the cake, coaching brow specialists, playing and having fun with make-up and taking customers from now to wow in an instant. Laughter really is the best cosmetic!

Beauty: Your new beauty regime
Pregnancy hormones can play havoc with your body so your favourite pre-pregnancy products may not be up to the job of keeping you groomed and gorgeous now you’re with bump. Use targeted techniques and pregnancy-friendly products for an easy beauty regime that maxes your glow factor.
Take a morning shower
An ever growing bump can make your body feel sluggish and heavy, so give it a pick-me-up first thing by taking a short tepid shower. As pregnancy can cause dry patches, it’s best to use cooler water as hot can dehydrate the skin, and use a shower gel that’s labelled “moisturising” to avoid parched pores even more.
Wash hair
Pregnancy is a great time for your hair as all the hormones make it thicker and more lustrous. But you can also see a change in its texture - fine can turn coarse, straight can turn wavy, and smooth can turn frizzy. So keep locks in control by shampooing everyday.
Remove fuzz
I-feel-ugly days are common during pregnancy so it’s vital to pay attention to the smaller details like hairy underarms, or ungroomed eyebrows to keep your confidence up. Shave away prickles from underarms and legs daily, (Insider tip: if you’re finding it awkward to reach your legs during the later months, shave on the loo or a chair with your legs resting against the bath!), and make time for plucking as face fuzz can get unruly if you don‘t keep it under control.
Moisturise everywhere
As your body grows to accommodate the baby, it’s common for the stretched skin to turn dry and itchy. Help it stay soft and supple with a daily top-to-toe moisturising routine and give drier areas like the feet, knees, thighs, stomach and the backs of your arms an extra dose of moisture.
Put on a little make-up
A simple make-up look is easy and quick and will make you feel a whole lot better on I’m-feeling-fat days. Avoid foundation if you can as your complexion will probably have a healthy pregnancy glow about it already. Just use concealer to disguise dark circles, spots and scars and blusher or bronzer to give some colour to your cheeks. Finish off with black mascara to define eyes and a high-shine lip gloss.
Put your feet up
The extra weight will put pressure on your feet making skin dry, swollen and sore. Keep them looking human by moisturising the heels and soles daily and rest them on a high surface as often as you can throughout the day.
Wind down and pamper
A pregnant body can feel tired and sore by the end of the day, so it’s vital to soothe it (and your mind) with a relaxing before-bed beauty regime. Choose from a candle-lit bath, a pampering face mask, or a foot or hand massage to help to de-stress and chill.
A Mini Manicure
Nails can be brittle and prone to breaking during pregnancy but a weekly manicure will keep them even and groomed. File away ridges and neaten edges using a one-direction filing technique. Moisturise cuticles with hand cream, pushing them back as you’re massaging it into skin. Polish with a natural pink colour that won’t show any chips.
A top-to-toe scrub
Dryness can lead to dullness so it’s important to slough away dead and dry skin cells with a regular weekly exfoliation routine. Opt for grainy scrubs that manually smooth dry patches as acid-based ones (that use AHAs to dissolve cells) are not safe to use while pregnant.
A conditioning hair wrap
Keep locks looking healthy and shiny by wrapping conditioner-soaked wet hair into a warmed-on-the-radiator towel for ten minutes or more. The heat will help the conditioner fully absorb into the strands leaving them soft and manageable for the rest of the week.
